A/C leaking water
Air conditioners create a lot of condensation, this condensation is suppose to exit your air conditioner through a drain tube that connects to a floor drain. It may or may not have a pump to assist the process. If water is collecting at the base of the air conditioner, something may be leaking, or blocking the water’s flow, or if their is a pump it may not be working.
Some trouble shooting steps to follow:
1) Look to see if one of the tubes is leaking. This would be the quickest, easiest solution. If one of the tubes is leaking, simply replace it.
2) if their is a condensation pump, test it by pouring water into its pan. If the pump doesn’t start, either it isn’t receiving power or it is broken. Be sure that it’s plugged in and test the circuit. If it still will not work then it is time to call in an air conditioning repair service to get it fixed or replaced.
3) If the pump runs but doesn’t empty the pan, then it is very likely the ball-like check valve, which is just before the discharge tube, is probably stuck. At this point you will need to unscrew the check valve, loosen the ball that is inside, and look for some type of blockage. This repair is not for every homeowner and if you are uncomfortable trying this then definitely call an a/c repair technician.
